Time Tested Beauty Tips

(Extracted from the web) A poem greatly adored by Audrey Hepburn - a beautiful timeless classic, just like she is.
~
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; Never throw out anybody.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows,
and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

My Spa Escapade - Aramsa The Garden Spa

ARAMSA THE GARDEN SPA @ BISHAN PARK
www.aramsaspas.com/
Bishan Park II, 1382 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 Singapore 569931
Tel: 6456 6556
Monday - Friday 10am - 10pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 9am - 10pm

This wasn't my first visit. In fact, I am a regular at Aramsa Spa.
Thought I should share why I've fallen in love with this place and that it is truly difficult to find a second favourite in Singapore.

Nestled in a location like the Bishan Park, it is not hard to imagine the rustic serenity that surrounds this place. The glass entrance to Aramsa Spa and the aroma that follows soothe both your mind and body in preparation for the treats that you're in for.

The changing area is spacious with lockers, 3 changing rooms, sinks and dressing corner (complete with dryer, comb, contact lens solution & sandalwood moisturiser!). The bathroom is hidden behind a sliding door with beautiful rustic shower area as well as a sauna and steam room.

After changing into the robes, Aramsa provides a lounge for guests to relax and have a light refreshment/reading before the treatment.
I loooove their sesame biscuits and tea!!

The single and couple rooms at Aramsa are designed slightly different from one another.
I love the ambience in the room and especially enjoy the unique outdoor shower experience!
Very romantic if you're here for a couple treat - go for the outdoor bath tub! *wink*

I have tried most of their garden packages and my favourite has to be the Tropical Java Lulur package. It has my all-time favourite Aramsa Touch massage (combination of Eastern Meridien and Western techniques) and a soak at the outdoor bathtub! However today, I decided to give their signature vichy shower a try with the Rain Dance package, which includes an oil prep and floral infused exfoliation. I thought it would be painful but it was actually pretty shiok! The therapist adjusted the shower nozzle to my various points and a strong gush of water came pattering on my back in a rhythmic manner top to toe. Ooooo...!

And yes, if you think this place looks heavenly, it DOES feel heavenly!!
Besides their spa facilities, Aramsa incorporates 2 dining choices, the Green Room (Vegetarian food) and the Canopy dining, as well as a salon and pilates studio (PowerMove).
Come try it for yourself!

Golden Peony, Conrad Centennial Singapore

Golden Peony
Conrad Centennial Singapore
Two Temasek Boulevard, Singapore, 038982, Singapore
Level 3
Tel: 65-6334-8888
A lazy afternoon dim sum at this fine dining restaurant was a great way to start my Saturday shopping spree with my girlfriend!

The savoury fish porridge!

Chee Cheong Fun stuffed with scallops & mushrooms, served with black pepper sauce

Homemade Beancurd with Asparagus & XO sauce
The beancurd skin was thin and I liked the the crunchy asparagus and mushrooms fillings

This is another interesting dish - very tasty!
Mushroom, fish maw and pumpkin wrapped in vegetable noodles

Scallop and Prawns wrapped in beancurd skin

Generous serving of prawns in this little dumpling!

And more prawns in this chunky Siew Mai! (Not oily, I must add.)

The restaurant serves a refreshing glass of calamansi(lime) juice and osmanthus jelly to "cleanse" your taste bud before you start on your next important course- the desserts!
Very attentive indeed!
Interesting "Tipsy" glass!

The ever popular mango pudding with pomelo pulps and sago with bits of strawberries.

Smooth and creamy (not thick) avocado served with vanilla ice cream. This is a cold dessert and it is so smooth that it literally melts in your mouth! Heavenly!

I've heard alot about the peking duck here, but we had too much to fill this in then.
Definitely a next visit and that will be a must-try!

A Dash of French in Serangoon Road - The French Stall

544 Serangoon Road Singapore 218166
Tel: 6299 3544
www.thefrenchstall.com.sg/
This place looks like any ordinary stall and with the huge Tiger Beer poster beside the signage, it is easy to miss out this little corner. However, the items you would see, from the unique European lamp posts
above to the floral tiles on the floor, this place does make you forget you are in Serangoon Rd! There were so many unique pieces in this little cosy stall that I was busy snapping away, ignoring my friend who was browsing through the menu and waiting for me to place my order! Being a "French" place, it is hard not to notice the wines displayed at the main counter, the wine cellar, and even at the side table with this very old typewriter. Unfortunately, my friend and I don't take wine, so no wine tasting for review. But I did notice a wide selection from the menu.

APPETISER

I had this very tasty Escargots, served with 2 slices of French bread while my friend had the French Onion Soup, served with a slice of soaked french bread topped with a layer of cheese. Interesting combination, I thought.

MAIN COURSE

I can't rave enough about this steak, it was sooooo goooood!
The meat was medium cooked (just how I liked it to be done) and the sauce went very well with the tender meat. The side dish was sauteed potatoes, and as the name suggests, it was a little salty but the portion was just right.

Grilled Beef Sirloin Steak (200gr) with Black Pepper Sauce & "Sautee" Potatoes

This grilled salmon dish was really meaty and I like that it was not over-cooked.

Grilled Salmon Chunk with Red Wine Sauce and Spinach "Genevoise*" Style

Other dishes include:
Pan Fried Dory Fish

Grilled Pork Chop

DESSERT
Dark Chocolate Cake (sugar icing crust) ----------------- Honey Cheese Cake

The service was prompt and servings were huge, unlike the usual french cuisine which normally comes in small portions that keeps you wondering when the main course would arrive!
We cleaned our plates, needless to say, down to the last drop of sauce and last bit of crumb!

*Genevoise is a french cooking term that indicates a classic sauce for fish made from fish fumet/stock, mirepoix and espagnole with red wine, finished with butter.
