Bukit Timah Railway Tracks (10July2011)

Exploring the flora and fauna of Bukit Timah Trail
10 July 2011
Mum, Wen & I

Opened in 1915 as part of the Singapore Kranji Railway, Bukit Timah Railway station was a passing loop (Singapore - Johor) owned by Malaysia main railway operator, KTM (Keretapi Tanah Melayu).
As of 1 July 2011, train services on this route ceased operations, as a result of a land swop agreement between Singapore and Malaysia.
The tracks are Malaysian property and will have to be returned.
Thus, we decided to take a walk down the track and enjoy the nature surrounding it before things change in time to come.
Like us, many came.
This sign must have been put up way before the station ceased operation.
Everybody who came brought along their cameras and even kids were holding iPhones!

What is this sign about?
A young little girl actually hung her bagpack over the handle! Hmm...

We even found ginger plants and scallions (Chinese 'cong') on the ground!

In view of its historical significance, this place shall be conserved.
Hopefully it will turn out to be a better 'nature walking' experience the next time we come!
